“Catholics have great potential to enrich public discourse and promote the common good, and presence in the media is crucial for that. So much was achieved here in the 19th and 20th centuries by Christians who dared to unmask social evils, to communicate their values, and the same is needed now in the 21st century.”

Kaunas Archbishop Sigitas Tamkevičius SJ, Chairman of the Church Chronicle Foundation

Our mission

The Lithuanian Church Chronicle Foundation works to promote a vibrant Christian contribution to the life of Lithuanian society through the means of social communication.

Established in 1998, the foundation recalls – and in its own way continues – the work of The Chronicle of the Catholic Church in Lithuania , a Soviet-era underground publication which played a crucial role in the defense of religious freedom and eventual restoration of Lithuanian independence.

The Lithuanian Catholic Bishops Conference in 2014 designated the Foundation as an instrument to promote Catholic participation in the country’s means of communication. The Foundation’s statues were thus renewed to reflect a new focus on providing resources and training to help Catholic media organizations and communicators contribute ever more to the work of Evangelization.
